17 Years of Blogging

Seventeen years ago today I started my blog What Is Bridget Reading? for a grad school project. Where has the time gone? I've had my degree for 16 years and I'm coming up on 15 years in my position as youth services librarian. After all this time, I can still definitively say that I love books, libraries, and working with children and teens in libraries. Here's to many more years of loving what I do and blogging about it. 

Happy 15 Years to What Is Bridget Reading?!

Hard to believe I've been blogging for 15 years. I've heard some rumbles that blogs are becoming a thing of the past. Though my blogging is more intermittent than I would like, I have no plans to stop. Even if no one reads my posts, I often look back on reviews and program reflections to help me plan storytime or improve a program.

What Is Bridget Reading? is 14 years old today! 

September 24, 2008 was a Wednesday. I was in my fourth semester of graduate school. This blog began with the booktalks I was writing during my Programming for Children and Young Adults course. 

Since then I've added reviews, reading projects (Harry Potter, Ramona, and Beatrix Potter), library program reflections, and Flannel Friday posts. I also became involved with the Cybils Awards for the first time in 2013. 2022 marks my fifth year serving as a category chair. 

I'm looking forward to blogging for many more years to come. And hoping as always that I can blog more regularly than sporadically in the future.

What Is Bridget Reading? is 12 years old today! So much has changed since 2008. This blog began with booktalks I was writing during my Programming for Children and Young Adults course in graduate school. Since then I've added reviews, reading projects (Harry Potter, Ramona, and Beatrix Potter), library program reflections, and Flannel Friday posts. I also became involved with the Cybils Awards for the first time in 2013. 2020 marks my third year serving as a category chair. 

I'm looking forward to blogging for many more years to come.

Happy Blogiversary to Me!

I can't believe it's been five years since I started this blog. Back in 2008, I was in my second year of graduate school and taking a children's and YA programming class. One of the assignments was booktalks. A blog seemed like a good place to deposit them and thus What Is Bridget Reading? was born.

A lot has changed since the beginning. I post more reviews now than booktalks. I contribute quite often to Flannel Friday. I've even started blogging about my programs. I guess the greatest thing I've gained from blogging is a personal learning network. I'm a solo youth services librarian in rural North Carolina. Being able to connect with other librarians online has been such a blessing. I find ideas for felt sets, programs, and storytimes.

I can't imagine where the next five years will take this blog, but I'm looking forward to it.

Blogiversary & ARC Giveaway
